Orvey Eklund

Orvey B Eklund of Holiday Island, Arkansas was born May 19, 2019 to Otto and Bessie (Olson) Eklund in Battle Lake, Minnesota. Orvey passed away at home surrounded by family in Holiday Island on April 7, 2021. He was approximately one month shy of his 102nd birthday.
Orvey served his country in the Navy during WWII. During his service, he survived the sinking of his ship, the USS Chicago, which was torpedoed during the Battle of Rennell. Orvey was a member of the Elks Lodge for 76 years. He was retired from Koch Industries where he was a senior executive in the company for over 30 years. Orvey enjoyed playing cards, fishing, watching the Arkansas Razorbacks, and growing roses. He was also an active member of the church and was a faithful servant of the lord.
He is survived by his son Dean Clark Eklund; grandchildren Justin Byron, David Jon, Kyle David, Samantha Lee, Kelsey Adeline; eight great–grandchildren; along with several other family members.
On August 23, 1941, Orvey was united in marriage to Audree Maxine (Gilbert) Eklund who preceded him in death. He is also preceded by his parents; son David Charles Eklund; eight brothers and sisters.
Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Presbyterian Church in Holiday Island with Pastor Brad Rito officiating. There will be a visitation also located at the church prior to the funeral service.
