In keeping with our mission, members took turns “ringing the bell” for the flint street food bank. We donate monthly to Flint street food bank. This is a special Christmas collection.

Fund Raiser for our Fire Department
One of our projects for the benefit of our community fire department we held an ice cream social. The Fire Department provided fire trucks and staff, explaining the parts of the truck, thier job and allowing people to handle the fire hoses.
Members of the Holiday Island Presbyterian Church gathered with staff and volunteers of the Holiday Island Fire Department to celebrate a successful Ice Cream Social, hosted for the community by the church on July 21. Those attending the Ice Cream Social generously donated over $1100 to the fire department.
Pictured in the foreground are Roxanne Royster (ice cream social committee) Colleen Shogren (Mission Elder), Nancy Werbitzky (ice cream social committee) and Nita Holley (Holiday Island Fire Department Auxiliary.) Not pictured is committee chair Donna Putnam and committee member Terry Eilsksof.
Also there to celebrate were Sallie Pittman, Pat Moore, Andrea Rahlf, Daisy Cartwright, and Terri Hegna. Volunteers and staff of the fire department joined in the celebration.

Flint Street Fellowship is a faith-based ministry providing groceries, clothing, utility/rent/transportation assistance, resource information, and fellowship. All services are free of charge and volunteer-based.
We provide a monthly donation in conjunction with our monthly communion service. One of our monthly donations was delivered by Roxanne Royster.
Best Choice Labels are collected year-round and redeemed for cash. This program allowed us to donate $120 to Flint Street Food Pantry in April 2023.
Community Service
One of the community groups in Holiday Island is the Holiday Island Hospitality Association. This is a social group that sponsors several events and meeting yearly. The January meeting was hosted by Holiday Island Presbyterian Women. As you can see some of our men helped too. And Pastor Rito provided the invocation.
Peace and Global Witness applied locally
Knitted items, plushies, and a check from HIPC for the local portion of Peace and Global Witness Offering were delivered to Grandma’s House in Berryville.
Pictured are Gloria Eby, HIPC representative and Kaleigh from Grandma’s House staff.
September 2023
The PCUSA “Season of Peace” begins on Sunday, September 3, and continues all month, until World Communion Sunday on October 1. This is a wonderful opportunity to focus on peace, both locally, nationally, and globally. During this month, we will be collecting a special offering – “Peace and Global Witness.” 50% of the donations will support the work for peace and reconciliation being done by Presbyterians across the globe, 25% goes to mid-councils to unite congregations to support peacemaking in their regions, and 25% stays with our local congregation. Think about how we can support peace locally with our 25%, and let a Session member know your thoughts. Watch for special offering envelopes, bulletin inserts, and Minutes for Mission during the month of September.
People Helping People
The $480 collected at the CS Bank parking lot fundraiser will be sent to People Helping People, to help those in need with prescription drug and diabetic supply needs. They are grateful for all the support our congregation provides, and say that our donation will go a long way in helping.
